The reasons for the occurrence of sea-breezes on or near coasts on sunny summer days are well known at least in broad outline.... The purpose of this paper is to provide a general account of the physical mechanism of sea-breeze prodution and to emphasise that the sea-breeze is one of three or four possible forms taken by the distribution of an airstream near the coast on a sunny day...
