Abstract

The system sailplane - moving air masses is treated by the method of classical mechanics using a co-ordinate system fixed to Earth...  The results give reasons for, and describe, the Dolphin flight technique and dynamic soaring by applying the derived equations to the special conditions found in thermals and wind shear, respectively.
