Abstract

Case study of one south and one north Foehn occurrence in the Alps

Based only on the presently opeating radiosonde network nothing more than a rough picture of the flow over and around the Alps can be obtained.  More detailed analysis are possible if we add data from the SYNOP network...  There exist, however, adequate analysis techniques incorporating diabatic processes which establish the three-dimensional pattern of motion.
