Abstract
A selection of satellite pictures of waves, wakes and billows in clouds has been made to illustrate that lee waves, ship waves patterns, vortex streets and other complications can be observed simultaneously on many occasions.... Many wave trains seem to preserve their regularity over rough terrain, presumably by inducing separation of the flow from the surface.
