Box models of the transport and dispersion of atmospheric pollution are very simple and coarse, but they are nonetheless useful to study the nature and importance of the major factors controlling the mean concentration of pollution... Thus, it can be seen that thermal convection studies are of fundamental importance in pollution investigations in and downwind of urban areas....
